Recovering Life
Greetings to you all. I hope that you are doing well, and trust the Spirit of Christ is with you and sustaining you through whatever this season has brought. is bringing and will bring to you.
I regularly and often come back to these words offered In Eugene Peterson's paraphrase of the Holy Scripture in reference to Matthew 11:28-30:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
How do these words find you today?
Are you tired? Worn Out? Burned Out on religion?
How might you receive Christ's invitation to come to Him, to get away with Him, to recover your life, to truly rest?
How might you receive Christ's invitation to walk with Him, work with me, to learn the unforced rhythms of His grace?
We can trust that he will not lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on us. He invites us to spend time with Him, learning to live freely and lightly, and I'll add fully.
I long for that. If I'm honest, there are many times that life doesn't feel very free, light or full.
Crisis, pain, hurt, often have a way of exposing my bondage, heaviness, and emptiness. To put it another way, exposing my mistrust. Each of those moments inviting me to return once again to Christ, in trust that He has goodness, beauty and truth for me, for my family, for my clients, for my friends, and for my Church.
However today finds you, however these words find you, I hope you are growing in your capacity to trust that Jesus sees you, He hears you, He knows you, He knows your need, your wants, and your hurts. He is holding you in His love. May your capacity for receiving His love and peace grow today in Trust that He is who He says He is, You are who He says you are. The work He has begun in you, He will see to completion!
May the grace & peace of Jesus be with you today and all days.
